Phase IV Investigate who else is using the software
What is the reputation and track record of the nonprofit solution you are evaluating? What happens beyond the software demonstration in the real world of nonprofit organizations striving to fulfill their mission, serve constituents, and operate at the highest level of good stewardship?
Part of the nonprofit software selection journey is seeking out other organizations that are using the solution that you are evaluating. We also recommend looking at surveys and third-party reviews of the solution.
What were the problems they were looking to solve? What were the challenges that the software helped them to address? Beyond addressing the immediate pains, did the solution provide additional benefits? What would they change if they had it to do all over again? What advice would they give others?
Your software solution partner can be of great assistance in lining up references for you to contact. Who better to inform you than another Finance Director who has completed the journey you are now taking? Prior to talking to references, you will want to review case studies that will provide an overview and help you to develop a set of questions to better probe their experience and assist you.
It’s invigorating to hear of the benefits other organizations have enjoyed and imagine similar positive outcomes happening in your organization.
Here is a sampling of what nonprofit finance directors, CFOS, controllers, and senior accounting managers have to say about Intacct and what it has allowed them to do to further the mission of their nonprofits.
“With Intacct’s real-time visibility, our managers can immediately see how their local programming decisions or budget variances will impact the organization’s bottom-line in the next 3, 6, or 12 months, which has made them much more proactive and agile.” Controller
“After comparing Intacct against the Blackbaud and Microsoft Dynamics solutions, we saw a huge difference in how much easier it was to use Intacct’s reporting and analysis capabilities.” CFO
“Not only has Intacct saved us several days of cobbling together spreadsheets each months, it has allowed us to keep up with increasing complexity without additional headcount.” Senior Accounting Manager
“Our fund visibility has been drastically improved because of Intacct’s multi-entity, multi-dimensional architecture. With the many dimensions available within Intacct, we are able to easily keep track of each fund’s separate cash or accounts payable balance, or roll up all of our funds to look at the foundation’s overall portfolio.” Controller and Treasurer
“Because of our streamlined processes, our existing finance staff is in a greater position to support the church even as we add another 10 campuses or so. As a matter of fact, we were able to reduce our accounting staff by one and avoid another full-time hire, saving us approximately $80,000 each year as a result of the extreme efficiencies we’ve gained with Intacct.” Controller
